Habib Ali Kiddie
Like Hamidi and Atif, Habib Ali Kiddie was a four-time,
Olympian. His international career span was similar to that of Atif, from
1952 at Helsinki to 1964 at Tokyo. And not like Atif and Hamidi, Kiddie
was very valuable palyer of a team which win or lose, was a side to contend
with.
Manning a position under the threat of constant attack, Kiddie was loath
to allow anything go by. A positional left half, Kiddie was so exceptional
that he had achieved the status of an all-time great during his playing
days.
Slim and light, Kiddie was technically a very sound player. Never one
to give credit where it was not due, Zakauddin, who had played against
hime on the domestic circuit, had this to offer on the mercurial Kiddie:
He was a great player. It never was too difficult for me to give
a through pass to the right-winger, but not with Kiddie in opposition.
You had to beat the full-back, bring him in and then pass
Kiddie anticipation, his traditional play, his ball-control was like
a forward's. Normally, he was a defensive half, but sometimes he indulged
in aggresssion and did it with great flair.
